Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital was without electricity for 11 hours due to the negligence of the Public Works Department. This disrupted all types of medical services. The caretaker of the hospital said. Haroon Aur Rashid said the hospital suddenly lost power around 10am on Friday. All kinds of emergency service equipment are shut down.
All kinds of service activities are severely disrupted. The dying patients of the Corona Isolation Ward are in extreme distress. Hundreds of residential patients lost their way in the dark. The hospital is without electricity till 9 pm.
He added that the local Azopadikor (Westzone Power Distribution Company) executive engineer was first informed to start the power connection. The responsibility of the hospital is the public works department. That is why Azopadiko expressed his inability.
The matter was later reported to the concerned Deputy Assistant Engineer of Public Works Department. When contacted, Deputy Assistant Engineer (Electric) Mohsin Ali said a tree fell on the power line at the hospital boundary and tore it off.
As a result, the power supply of the hospital was cut off. He said a contractor named Tariqul Islam had been asked to repair the line.
At this stage, he disconnected the phone. Jhenaidah Public Works Department Sub-Divisional Engineer (Civil) was contacted to know the actual news. With Farooq Hossain. He said he did not know the matter. He said to contact the sub-divisional engineer of the electrical department to know the incident. Later, Jhenaidah Sub-Divisional Engineer (Electric) Ershadul Islam was contacted and said that the concerned Deputy Assistant Engineer Mohsin Ali has been given the responsibility to repair the line.
In response to a question, he said, last Wednesday, the new executive engineer. Moniruzzaman has joined. After joining, he left for Dhaka. Sub-divisional engineer Ershadul Islam could not answer the question whether he had taken leave.
Meanwhile, it has been found out that Deputy Assistant Engineer (Electric) Mohsin Ali is not at the station. He is repairing the line in Kushtia. When contacted by phone in another round, he admitted the truth of the news of staying in Kushtia.
Later, when the Sadar Hospital was without electricity, there was a commotion. The caretaker of the hospital said that the power supply was restored around 9:30 pm.
